Rural Health Futures has collected data from a variety of entities in rural communities using their Telecommunity Community Assessment Surveys. The surveys were designed especially to illicit data from businesses, government agencies, schools, healthcare providers and others regarding the potential value of advanced technologies and telecommunications. The data collected will help not only an economic development or technology group to ascertain the aggregate interest in the use of advanced technologies, but the surveys will also highlight to each individual who completes the survey where they are spending money that could be reduced using advanced technology. The surveys are also specifically designed to help the an economic development or technology group to gauge the community's interest in an economic development strategy focused on advanced technologies and telecommunications.

The Telecommunity Community Assessment Survey Packet includes:

1. twenty (20) surveys that can be completed by local businesses, government agencies, charitable organizations and schools
2. five (5) healthcare provider surveys to be completed by hospitals, physician clinics, dentists, chiropractors or mental health agencies
3. each survey also includes an overview of the Rural Telecommunity Center concept including anticipated impacts on various entities within the community and the various technologies that could be included in a Center
4. the surveys also include a map that provides a perspective on your region so that each individual can adequately assess their opportunities and current activities within the region
5. a tally sheet that can be used to aggregate the results from the surveys so they can be easily documented in a community assessment .
