With the funding of the Rural Electrification Administration Grant, Rural Health Futures, Inc. worked with Community Hospital, Onaga to plan and submit a Rural Health Care Outreach application in March, 1994. Community Hospital, Onaga plans to extend their Telemedicine link to a total of six rural clinics (Alma Clinic, Centralia Clinic, Horton Clinic, Frankfort Clinic, Onaga Clinic and St. Mary's Clinic). Along with the six clinics, Community Hospital, Onaga and St. Francis also plan to extend the Telemedicine link out to the Kickapoo Indian Reservation. The intent of this application was to build on earlier efforts to provide better health care to the residence in Northeastern Kansas through the extension of outpatient services, expansion of the Telemedicine networks already in place and the establishment of new relationships with other local providers in the area.
