Telemedicine: Assessing the Kansas Environment

Rural Health Futures, Inc. worked with the Kansas Hospital Association and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment to study Telemedicine in the state of Kansas and the environment for opportunities and barriers presented by Telemedicine applications. The mission of this project was to develop material to help educate people interested in Telemedicine and to provide a structured approach for evaluating and implementing Telemedicine in Kansas.

Telemedicine - Assessing the Kansas Environment

Rural Health Futures, Inc. generated a four-volume report on Telemedicine as a result of a study completed with the Kansas Hospital Association and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.

The recommendations and conclusions from the study were complied in a four-volume report:

  1. Volume I: The Role of Telemedicine in Health Care Delivery,
  2. Volume II: Telemedicine Policy Issues,
  3. Volume III: Community Telemedicine Planning Guide and
  4. Volume IV: Telemedicine Source Book.

These volumes provide an overview of major health problems existing in Kansas, review historical trends in Telemedicine applications, identify current Telemedicine applications, presents and analysis for relevant Telemedicine policy issues, details a community planning process for Telemedicine and concludes with a source book of references.
