Kansas Telemedicine Initiative

RHF worked with St. Francis Regional Medical Center and St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas to assist them in the development of a Telemedicine network. The first step was to identify the communities around which to establish a network. A plan was then developed to define a Telemedicine system specifically for the communities in the network. Once the Telemedicine system was designed a Rural Electrification Administration (REA) grant application was prepared and submitted (January 1995) for the development of the Kansas Telemedicine Initiative (KTI) Telemedicine System. The KTI group covers the southern part of the state of Kansas, including the communities of: Johnson City, Hugoton, Elkhart, Liberal, Greensburg, Pratt, Wichita, Winfield, Cedar Vale, Chanute, Fort Scott and Independence.
