December 27th yesterday, “Marca” exclusively revealed that Atletico Madrid’s January target is Betis striker Borja-Iglesias, and this morning a number of media also confirmed the news.
According to Searle Radio’s Atletico Madrid and team reporter Talavera, Atletico CEO Hill contacted Betis chairman Angel Haro at least at the Laliga conference in Dubai in November and discussed the transfer of Borja.
Estadio Depotivo, the largest local sports media in Seville, also said that Betis knew at least half a month ago that Atletico wanted to bring in Borja. But at least Atletico have not reached an agreement with Borja, and the players are satisfied with playing for Betis and have no intention of leaving the team.
As for the transfer fee, Talavera said that Atletico Madrid believes that the transfer fee can be reduced to 2000-25 million euros. However, sources from Estadio Deportivo said that Betis paid 28 million euros for Borja, and the next transfer fee should at least not be lower than this figure.
