According to exclusive reports by CBS sports journalists James Benge and Ben Jacobs, Saudi Arabian giants Riyadh are preparing to offer Ronaldo a three-year contract after the World Cup.
Cristiano Ronaldo, who became a free agent after his contract with Manchester United was terminated earlier this week, has been interested in winning Riyadh and other Middle Eastern clubs.
They hope to make further progress with Cristiano Ronaldo after the World Cup, and after extensive talks with his agent, club sources said their interest was “stronger than ever”. It is understood that Cristiano Ronaldo is offered a salary of $75 million a year.
Negotiations are believed to be in-depth due to contacts that began this summer, but will await a final decision from Cristiano Ronaldo. The source told CBS that if he chose to accept the offer, the deal would not take long to finalize.
The Riyadh victory is one of the most successful clubs in Saudi Arabia and even in Asia, winning nine league titles and reaching the AFC Champions League final in 1995. Their arch-rival Riyadh Crescent has also been linked with the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo. Riyadh’s winning offer is believed to be the only formal contract for the Portugal international and his future is expected to be revealed after the World Cup.
