January 06 News MLS Charlotte FC officially announced that Captain Fuchs
Smith officially retired, ending his 19-year career.
The 36-year-old Fuchs was one of Leicester’s Premier League champions in 2015-16.
He started his career in Mattersburg, Austria. He went to the Bundesliga in 2008 and played for Bochum, Mainz and Schalke 04. In 2015, Fuchs moved to Leicester City and followed him in the first season.
The team won the Premier League championship and played until the summer of 2021, and then joined Charlotte FC.
Played 577 club games in his career, scoring 37 goals and 83 assists.
For the national team, Fuchs made his debut in 2006 and participated in the 2008 European Cup and the 2016 European Cup.
In 2012, Fuchs was appointed captain of the Austrian national team and retired from the national team in 2016.
He represented the Austrian national team in 78 appearances, 37 of which played in the national team as captain.
Fuchs said: "This has been an incredible journey for me and my family. Not only have we had great success over the years, but we have also learned from amazing people along this journey.
Throughout my career, I have received support from the club, teammates and fans. I will always look back on these precious memories with a big smile on my face."
So far, in the "Leicester City Miracle" that year, the four main defenders Simpson, Morgan, Huth and Fuchs have all retired.
