February 14 News Czech media Idnes interviewed Janktor’s ex-girlfriend Markéta Ottomanská.
Your ex-partner is openly gay, what do you think?
I’d rather not be a part of it, it’s for our son too, they’ll grow up together.
This is just Yanktor’s story, a decision he made himself, and I’m proud he mustered up the courage to speak out.
He was the first active soccer player to announce it (probably she didn’t know anyone else), and maybe only those who ended their careers would admit it.
Everyone else is keeping it under wraps.
They are afraid that people will demonize them.
But now people are expressing their support for him on social networks.
But there must still be many people writing him private messages and threatening him.
The scary thing is that things like this are still happening.
Queer people are interested in other people’s lives.
What will the fans think?
Well, I’m curious, only time will tell, hope is a good thing.
But guys are picky about the subject.
When did you learn about his sexuality?
I don’t want to publish such details.
But when Yanktor told me this, he also gave me a lot of freedom to make decisions, the most important thing now is that he is comfortable and happy.
He must be relieved that nothing will eat him from the inside.
He’s afraid that people won’t accept who he really is, and he’s stressed about it.
I’m sure people will like him as much as he did, he just needs to be nice to them.
The express said that he was not nice to you before, how do you feel now?
That’s all in the past, and I don’t struggle with it anymore.
I don’t blame him… what happened was also due to unresolved trauma from my parents’ divorce as a child.
I spoke about this last year because I needed to seal up my life.
Now we are parents, so we have to get along.
Your life now…?
I have a lot of work to do.
I have a gift shop in Dejvice, a forest nursery not far from Prague, and I do psychological counseling.
The out-of-the-closet Yanktor used to have a girlfriend and a child. Last year, he was in arrears of alimony, which made life difficult for the mother and child
