According to a report from Alessandro Austini, a senior team reporter in the Times of Rome, Rome is unlikely to implement Venaldom’s buyout clause of 8 million euros, but if the player negotiates a termination with Paris Saint-Germain, Roma are willing to waive him next summer.
Venaldom, who broke his tibia in training in August and missed the first half of Rome and the World Cup in Qatar, has followed Rome to Portugal for training and is getting better, but it will take about a month to make a full comeback.
Venaldom, who has been training in the gym and swimming pool, has finally taken part in training in Rome in recent days, but the current customized training course still needs to last for a few weeks. The Roma medical team believes that he will not be able to play in the first three games of 2023 (against Bologna, Milan and Genoa) and that his most likely comeback time is against Spezia on January 22 or Fiorentina on January 15.
After a few months of absence, Venaldoom wants to make up for his lost time and wait until the end of the season to discuss with Roma. At the same time, Roma director Pinto has been in contact with Paris Saint-Germain and the player’s agent to explore the possibility of a negotiated termination.
At present, Venaldom’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires in 2024, and the annual fixed salary + bonus is about 9 million euros after tax. Rome can almost rule out the possibility of enforcing a 8 million euro buyout clause, but if it can be waived after termination, Rome may agree to pay a small amount of compensation.
