Mikhilovich, a famous Serie A star, died in a hospital in Rome at the age of 53 after a long struggle with leukemia.
Sinisa Mikhilovich was born in Vukova, Croatia on February 20, 1969 and played for Sampdoria, Lazio, Internazionale and other clubs.
As a defender, he is very skillful with free kicks, scoring three direct free kicks in a game between Lazio and Sampdoria in 1998 and 1999. At the same time, he is still the player who scored the most direct free kicks in Serie A (43 goals).
After retiring in 2006, Mikhilovich has coached Catania, Fiorentina, AC Milan and other clubs, as well as the Serbian national team.
In July 2019, Mikhilovich, who was coach of Bologna, announced that he was suffering from leukemia, but decided to continue to coach. In September 2022, Bologna announced that Mikhilovich would no longer serve as head coach.
