March 17th, the Spanish Football Association issued an official announcement, expressing that it will fully support and assist the authorities in the investigation of the Barcelona referee incident.
The official announcement is as follows:
The Royal Spanish Football Association established its position in this case during the judicial process.
A Barcelona court has accepted a lawsuit by the Prosecutor’s Office against payments made by FC Barcelona to the former vice-president of the referee committee, Enriquez Negrera.
In addition, based on the analysis of the current situation, the Spanish Football Association has immediately submitted an integrity report and all written documents supporting the report to the relevant departments of UEFA.
The Spanish Football Federation has collaborated with the authorities from the first instance to maximize their efforts to investigate the incident, which took place under the club’s previous management team.
At the same time, relevant information, including copies of documents from FC Barcelona and the referee committee, has also been submitted to the Spanish Sports Council.
The Spanish Football Federation is ready to provide assistance at any time and hopes that the incident will end as soon as possible. It asks all sectors of society to give the authorities a calm environment to investigate and eliminate the atmosphere of anger towards the referees in recent days.
This is not conducive to the healthy development of football.
The trial of the court will take some time to confirm whether there is any illegal act in the Barcelona referee incident.
Here, the Spanish Football Federation would like to thank all retired and active referees on the referee committee for their contributions. Their work has helped the development of professional football in Spain. Thank you very much!
