According to the latest report by the famous Times reporter Tom Roddy, Chelsea are in in-depth negotiations to sign Monaco defender Badiacil.
The American owner of the West London club has been preparing for the January transfer window and their newly appointed signing team has made the French centre-back the main target of the winter transfer window.
It is reported that the 21-year-old has won two appearances for France and they have discussed the structure of a transfer fee of about 35 million pounds with Monaco. Badiacil is a left centre-back who can provide cover for Wesley Fofanah, who is injured after his comeback.
Chelsea have been keen to strengthen their defence and tried to sign Croatian defender Yosco Gwadior from Leipzig in the summer, but hesitated because of the transfer fee. Chelsea plan to try again to sign Gwadior, but face competition from Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur.
Badia Hill has been spotted by Chelsea’s new signing team, including Lawrence Stewart, Chelsea’s new technical director, who previously held the same position in Monaco.
Stewart’s responsibilities are mainly focused on the global field, as the owners of Burley and Qinghu Capital plan to build a multi-club model, but his colleague is another new technical director, Christopher Weill. He was a former scout and director of recruitment in Salzburg, Austria. Chelsea have agreed to sign Christopher Nkunku from Leipzig and plan to sign Gvadiol.
